Roughly translated, this phrase means, “Hello, gelato.” Really it means, “Dearest gelato, you are amazing. I love you almost as much as my husband (and, in the case of bacio, maybe an itty bit more). I need to eat you as much as possible. It’s a good thing you’re calorie-free.*
*It doesn’t count when you’re on vacation. Scientific fact, y’all.
We said it a lot while in Italy! ITALY. The land of awesomeness and Catholicness and foodiness. One of very few places that makes Oxford feel really, really young. We went, we ate, we wept (when we left). (This is the alternate version of veni, vidi, vici.)
